Job Description

This position requires management of 5 limited-service hotels over 4 locations in 3 cities. One location is a dual branded hotel. Two hotels are in the same city.   This position will reside in the corporate office located in Albuquerque, NM. Hotels are located in 3 other cities in state of New Mexico.

Director of Operations will have overall management of all hotels supervision and oversight. Paaru management is a privately owned hotel development and management company. Each of the hotel is privately owned by entities that are tied to Paaru Management. We will not need to report to any third-party owners.   

We are looking for a highly motivated person that is able to work with a diverse group of general managers. We want an innovative thinker that is able to create policy and procedures that are precise and encompassing of entire hotel operation. This position requires attention to detail, high degree of organization, and ability to create innovating procedures that puts guest satisfaction at its core.

 

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Prime responsibility is to ensure all hotel operations are carried out at a level that is consistent across all hotels and follow brand standards.
  • Recruit, interview and train general managers and oversee hotel staff hiring.
  • This position will need to provide mentorship to the individual property general manager and their teams.
  • Negotiate contracts and find vendors that will provide optimum value and quality.
  • Develop short and long term operations strategies that are tied to performance, financial, and guest satisfaction metrics.
  • Develop annual budgets, communicate the budgets to hotel management team and monitor the performance in conjunction with accounting team.
  • Periodic detailed property inspection is required to ensure standards are being met.
  • Create RevPAR goals with the hotel management team and monitor progress on a weekly basis. Create performance goals for the management team and hold accountable.
  • Work with third party sales vendor at 3 of the hotels. Create marketing plan for the properties that do not use third party sales vendors.
  • Ensure all brand training programs are used and implemented by the management team at each hotel.
  • Analyze all metrics that are related to hotel operations. Metrics include but are not limited to financial, STR, Brand QAR, guest satisfaction, property maintenance, employee satisfaction, inspections, and performance to goal metrics.
  • Ensure programs are in place for inspection and asset protection at each property. Ensure the maintenance of the hotel is at a peak level regardless of the age of the property. Capital requirements will need to be incorporated into the annual budgets based on the priority and needs of the location.
  • Travel is required to each location on a regular basis and as needed.
  • Use data analytics to make operations decisions, performance evaluation, and to achieve optimal performance.
  • Ensure proper billing practices are maintained to ensure account receivable aging is current and not past due.
  • Have property inventory management practices in place to control inventory.
  • Continuously refine current practices and inspire others to create new ways to improve future performance.
  • Engage with franchise service directors on new programs, information, and brand standards to ensure high level of guest satisfaction.
  • Be a role model for management teams at all of the hotels.
  • Develop talent and help employees grow to create internal pipeline for key positions.
  • Work with the corporate team to successfully bring new properties online as needed including planning, hiring, setup operations and manage any conversion or renovation.
  • Develop open communications with ownership to best alight operation strategies, execution and outcome.
  • Perform any other duties as requested to attain better operation of the properties and to improve guest satisfaction.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited university.
  • Direct hotel management experience for at least 5 years.
  • Management experience in branded hotels for at least 5 years.
  • Multi property portfolio management
  • Ability to travel is required.
  • Strong leadership and motivational skills
  • Work thoroughly and keep attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Need excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Strong analytics skills to analyze profit and loss statements, STR reports, and Guest satisfaction reports to make informed operational decisions.
  • Proficient with computers and fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
